O <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/news\/world\/watch-slovakian-viola-player-retunes-performance-cell-phone-ring-article-1.1011018\">mores<\/a>!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Last night I was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.archive.org\/details\/CC_1979_12_12_c1\">listening to a concert<\/a> recorded in <a href=\"http:\/\/experimentalintermedia.org\/\">Phill Niblock&#8217;s loft<\/a> in SoHo in 1979. Tom Johnson was performing his piece <em>Nine Bells<\/em>, for suspended fire alarm gongs. Right at the very end of the piece, a telephone in the room starts to ring. I&#8217;m talking one of those old-school <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hollywoodlostandfound.net\/sound\/uniphone.html\">Universal Telephone<\/a> style BRRRRINGGGs.
