{"id":447,"date":"2007-01-29T19:13:00","date_gmt":"2007-01-29T19:13:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cookylamoo.com\/wordpress\/?p=447"},"modified":"2010-01-02T23:30:33","modified_gmt":"2010-01-02T23:30:33","slug":"filler-by-proxy-xlv-grapple-with-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cookylamoo.com\/boringlikeadrill\/2007\/01\/filler-by-proxy-xlv-grapple-with-it.html","title":{"rendered":"Filler by Proxy XLV: Grapple With It"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">If there&#8217;s a reason my compulsive CD buying has stopped over the past 12 months, it&#8217;s because of sites like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ubu.com\/\">UbuWeb<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.archive.org\/details\/other_minds\">Other Minds Archive<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.wfmu.org\/freeform\/\">WFMU<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.analogartsensemble.net\/blog.html\">ANABlog<\/a> making available all sorts of wild stuff I&#8217;d heard about, but never actually heard. <\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Lately ANABlog has been working through mini-retrospectives of music by underrated composers of the 20th Century (their latest project, Ben Johnston, is definitely worth a listen) but amongst all  this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.analogartsensemble.net\/2007\/01\/george-harrison-electronic-sound.html\">they have <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">uploaded<\/span><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.analogartsensemble.net\/2007\/01\/george-harrison-electronic-sound.html\"><\/a> George Harrison&#8217;s much maligned second solo album, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.headheritage.co.uk\/unsung\/thebookofseth\/719\"><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Electronic Sound<\/span><\/a>. <\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">This is the album he made (or didn&#8217;t make, depending who you ask) entirely on his shiny new Moog synthesiser in a couple of days.  I don&#8217;t know which is more surprising, that someone has bothered to upload an MP3 of this record, or that it was once issued as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.8trackheaven.com\/georgeharrison.html\">an 8-track cartridge<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you&#8217;re at all curious, get it soon, because it won&#8217;t stay around for too long.  (Short, shameful confession: I haven&#8217;t downloaded it because I bought a slightly battered 2nd-hand LP of it some 15 years ago.)<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">Also: Forget the Beatle!<\/span> I just checked UbuWeb and they now have <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ubu.com\/sound\/duke.html\">a collection of readings by Jas H. Duke<\/a>.
