Lessons learned etc."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hopefully there&#8217;ll soon be some photos or videos to show from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.soundandmusic.org\/network\/events\/129277\">the gig<\/a> last week.  It was a fine evening, all round.  Here&#8217;s a few things I learned from the experience, in roughly chronological order:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On Windows XP: System Properties, Hardware, Device Manager, Disable Wireless Network Adapter. Nothing else seems to kill the bugger.<\/li>\n<li>How to make and edit a video on my laptop, sort of. (&#8220;Do you have a video to go with your piece?&#8221; Sure!)<\/li>\n<li>Always check that you haven&#8217;t been unplugged from the PA before you start playing.<\/li>\n<li>Switch off your phone before playing with audio technology.<\/li>\n<li>Even if the phone miraculously refrains from interfering with the audio signal, nothing can prevent you from unexpectedly receiving a text from Australia halfway through playing your piece.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/cookylamoo\/4326395000\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4066\" title=\"Picture is unrelated.\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cookylamoo.com\/boringlikeadrill\/blogpix\/vatstairs01a.jpg\" alt=\"Picture is unrelated.\" width=\"410\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cookylamoo.com\/boringlikeadrill\/wp-content\/uploads\/vatstairs01a.jpg 410w, https:\/\/www.cookylamoo.com\/boringlikeadrill\/wp-content\/uploads\/vatstairs01a-300x205.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 410px) 100vw, 410px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hopefully there&#8217;ll soon be some photos or videos to show from the gig last week.
